Stanford is back on top.

The University of Virginia Cavaliers suffered their first loss of the season, ending their four-week reign at the top of the NCAA Division I women’s soccer national rankings.

The University of Virginia stays firm at No. 1, maintaining their unbeaten record for the sixth week. Notre Dame takes second after a victory over Duke, who slid as a result. Penn State suffered their third loss and dropped ten places in the rankings.

University of Michigan beat previous top-ranked Indiana University in week 4, propelling the Wolverines to No. 8.

The United Soccer Coaches Division I Women’s Soccer Poll 5 brought plenty of shake-ups, headlined by Mississippi State’s upset over last week’s No. 1, Tennessee. The Bulldogs handed the Volunteers their first loss of the season, a 3-2 result in Starkville.

Stanford shuffled down from first to third in the latest 2025 NCAA women's college soccer rankings after a loss to No. 4 UCLA, previously 18th, this week. The University of Tennessee (No. 1) and Duke (No. 2) stayed on top of their game and kept the top spots.

The latest NCAA Women's Division I soccer rankings had small movements and several new contenders enter the rankings, but a clear top three have been established in the young season.
