The University of Virginia stays firm at No. 1, maintaining their unbeaten record for the sixth week. Notre Dame takes second after a victory over Duke, who slid as a result. Penn State suffered their third loss and dropped ten places in the rankings.

Notre Dame made an impressive jump to No. 2 this week following a 3-2 win over Duke. This served as Duke’s second loss of the season and dropped them from No. 3 to No. 9. The Fighting Irish outshot their opponent with a total of 24 shots versus Duke's 9. 

Even with Duke’s eight saves, Notre Dame found enough net to win. At minute 64, the score stood at 3-0 in favor of Notre Dame. Duke turned on the gas and tried for a late-game comeback. After two goals, Duke couldn’t find a third to tie the game.

The University of Virginia keeps their unbeaten record (8-0-1, including a draw to Georgetown) for the sixth week in a row. The Hoos blanked both of their most recent opponents in consecutive 3-0 wins against Virginia Commonwealth University and Syracuse. 

UVA first claimed the No. 1 spot last week after beating two highly ranked teams back-to-back: Duke, then No. 2, and Penn State, then No. 9.

Penn State faced their third loss with a 1-2 game against Wisconsin. This followed a 1-1 tie with Nebraska. Despite the home-turf advantage in both games, the team had trouble building momentum. In the game against Wisconsin, PSU scored first at 6:27, though found no follow-ups. Penn State led in shots (18-13), but Nebraska led in saves (6-0).
