D.C. United's break for the Gold Cup came at a perfect time to assess the first part of their 2019 campaign. The home draw last weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes marked the exact halfway point for the Black-and-Red in their MLS schedule, with 17 games played and 17 games remaining once United get back in action later this month.

D.C. couldn't end a two-game winless streak at Audi Field on Sunday afternoon, as New York City FC won their first game of the season 2-0. In front of 18,004 fans at Buzzard Point in Washington, D.C., goals on either side of the half were the just result, as the visitors were the better side for much of the 90 minutes. Alexandru Mitrita scored on a deflected shot in the 35th minute, while Brazilian striker Heber — in his first start for City — scored his first MLS goal in the 56th minute.

D.C. United shrugged off two underwhelming performances at home over the past week, going on the road Saturday to defeat the Colorado Rapids 3-2. It was a nervy second half, much in the vain of United's previous road game — a 2-1 win over Orlando City. But United held on and earned their seventh point on the road from three games this season with the win.

D.C. United had to battle through a tough second half, short rest, altitude, a rotated roster, and a new look formation, but did just enough on Saturday night to defeat the Colorado Rapids 3-2 at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. After falling behind to a Benny Feilhaber goal, the Black-and-Red reeled off three goals in an eight-minute stretch of the first half. Goals from Luciano Acosta, Chris Durkin, and Lucas Rodriguez were enough for the visitors, despite Kei Kamara's second-half tally and a flurry of chances for the hosts.

D.C. United fans are hoping a breath of Rocky Mountain air can help their side return to winning ways and find the back of the net once again on Saturday. There’s perhaps no better side to do it against, as the Colorado Rapids have conceded the most goals in MLS thus far (16). First kick is set for 9:00 PM ET, and the match will be broadcast right here on FloFC.

The past week has been mostly forgettable for D.C. United, as the calendar turned from March to April, moving the MLS season into its second month. To end March, United beat Orlando City on the road, thanks to a goal and an assist from Wayne Rooney. Joseph Mora suffered a broken jaw and concussion in the 2-1 win, but that was the only negative out of United's first win on the road in nearly a year.
