Late Double-Overtime Strike Lifts Hofstra To 2022 CAA Women's Soccer Title
A goal by Krista Agostinello with 90 seconds remaining in the second overtime lifted Hofstra to its fifth CAA Women’s Soccer title in the last six seasons.

A goal by Hofstra’s Krista Agostinello with 90 seconds remaining in the second overtime lifted the Pride to its fifth CAA Women’s Soccer Championship in the last six seasons in a 2-1 victory over Northeastern at Parsons Field.
Hofstra, which qualified for the Championship on the regular season’s final day, ousted the No. 1, 5, and 3 seeds to capture its fifth conference title in the last six seasons and eighth in its league tenure.
The game’s first tally came in the 61st minute when Wiktoria Fronc created a chance along the left side and put a shot on goal that was saved before Ellen Halseth pounced on the rebound and poked it into the open net.
Northeastern pulled even in the 80th minute, as Jane Kaull’s free kick from near the corner connected with the head of Alexis Legowski and snuck inside the post for the game-tying goal.
The teams would play a scoreless first overtime and the second looked destined for the same before Hofstra found the game-winner in the closing seconds. An initial shot from Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir ricocheted off the crossbar and found Agostinello, who headed it home for the deciding tally.

Hofstra outshot Northeastern, 21-16, for the contest, with shots on goal even at 9-9. Skylar Kuzmich made eight saves for the Pride and Holland Stam collected six stops for the Huskies.
Hofstra is the first No. 8 seed to win the league crown. Simon Riddiough’s conference title is his seventh as head coach at his alma mater; the victory moves him within three of John Daly’s league record.
Hofstra will learn its destination for the 2022 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship on Monday at 3:30 p.m. in a selection show streamed on NCAA.com.
