Wingate Men Win SAC Regular-Season Crown, Seeds For Championship Announced

The Wingate Bulldogs captured their first SAC regular-season title since 2017. They finished the season with 22 points and a record of 6-1-4 in league play.

Wingate Men Win SAC Regular-Season Crown, Seeds For Championship Announced

The Wingate Bulldogs captured their first regular-season title since 2017. They finished the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer season with 22 points and a record of 6-1-4 in league play.

With the win, the Bulldogs have earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SAC Men's Soccer Championship.

2022 Mars Hill vs Wingate - Men's QF

Coker earns the No. 2 seed, after finishing conference play with a 5-0-6 record and 21 points.

Carson-Newman earned the No. 3 seed, completing league play with a 5-2-4 record and 19 points. 

Lenoir-Rhyne finished the season with a 6-4-1 record in conference play and 19 points to take the No. 4 seed, and Catawba earned the No. 5 seed with a 6-4-1 record and 19 points.

2022 Catawba vs Lenoir-Rhyne - Men's QF

Carson-Newman won the tiebreaker with Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba by virtue of its ties against Wingate and Coker, and Lenoir-Rhyne was the next-highest seed based on its 3-1 head-to-head win over Catawba on Oct. 26.

Limestone earned the No. 6 seed with a 5-3-3 record and 18 points, and Lincoln Memorial took the No. 7 spot with a 6-5 record and 18 points.

2022 Lincoln Memorial vs Coker - Men's QF

Limestone and Lincoln Memorial finished tied, but Limestone won the tiebreaker by virtue of its 4-2 win over the Railsplitters on Oct. 22.

Mars Hill rounds out the field as the No. 8 seed, having posted a 5-5-1 record and 16 points.

The 2022 SAC Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Saturday, before moving to American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 4 and 6.
