NEWS AND NOTES

TOO EARLY TO CALL

With the midway point of conference play approaching in the CAA on Thursday, all that's known is how much still is to be figured out.

Drexel leads the way with nine points and William & Mary, at eight points, is the lone remaining unbeaten. But three points currently separate third from 11th place in the table.

Conference newcomer Monmouth has allowed just two goals in four league games, while four teams - Charleston, Drexel, Hofstra and Stony Brook - are averaging at least two goals per contest against CAA competition.

NATIONAL TREASURE

CAA women’s soccer players continue to rack up national honors with three more recognized this week.

Northeastern’s Holland Stam was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week’s top XI, while Delaware’s Katie Hackley and Monmouth’s Cassie Coster collected honorable mention nods.

It marked the fourth straight week at least two CAA women’s players, and a minimum of three players across men’s and women’s soccer, were recognized.

MAMA SAID SHUT YOU OUT

The CAA features six goalkeepers with at least five shutouts this season.

Monmouth’s Cassie Coster is fourth nationally with eight clean sheets this fall, while Towson’s Riley Melendez is eighth with seven. William & Mary’s Zoe Doughty and Northeastern’s Holland Stam each have six shutouts on the year, while Elon’s McKenna Dalfonso and Hofstra’s Skylar Kuzmich have recorded five each.

HIGH FIVE!

Towson’s Nia Christopher scored five times in the Tigers’ win over Delaware State, breaking a program record and tallying two more goals than any other player in the nation in a single game this season.

Christopher’s five goals were the most by a CAA player in the 21st Century and one shy of the conference record set in 1996.
