As the European summer transfer window approaches, three Italian stars are very likely to take center stage this year. Thursday morning’s edition of Italian sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport highlighted Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, A.S. Roma star Niccolò Zaniolo and Nicolò Barella of Cagliari as three who will command a high level of interest both at home and abroad.

The article shows how the values of Chiesa, Zaniolo and Barella have shot up from €0.1 million, €0.05 million and €1.3 million, respectively, in July 2016 to €50 million, €40 million and €30 million today. Chiesa and Zaniolo both started out in the Fiorentina youth system, and their values have seen the most dramatic rise, swiftly overtaking their compatriot Barella.

Those who are not familiar with these youngsters may well have the chance to see them in action for the Italy senior squad in the next week. Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri take on Finland on Saturday, followed by Lichtenstein on Tuesday in their opening two qualifiers for Euro 2020.
