There's a war in Rome between AS Roma's American owner James Pallotta and the Spanish ex-employee Monchi.

AS Roma made the unusual move of firing both their coach and sporting director with the removal of Eusebio Di Francesco and Monchi almost two weeks ago. Since then, the Giallorossi have appointed Claudio Ranieri for at least the rest of this term, but a bitter war of words has erupted between owner James Pallotta and his former Spanish employee.

“The president wanted to go to the right; I wanted to go to the left,” Monchi — who has now gone back to former club Sevilla — told reporters upon his return to Spain.
As reported by Tuesday morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Boston-based Roma owner was none too happy with this version of events, and set about putting the record straight with what the Italian newspaper called a “public divorce.”
“I appreciate that Monchi never set out to fail at Roma but I want to make something very clear, right from the start,” fumed Pallotta on the club’s official website. “I was very clear about the direction I wanted us to go in and that’s why we spent a lot of money bringing Monchi in.”
