With just a couple of hours remaining in the European transfer window, a shock deal between Paris St. Germain and D.C. United for Luciano Acosta remains far from done, a source told FloFC. Acosta, who is currently in Paris with United’s General Manager Dave Kasper, has been the focus of several transfer offers in recent days. As it stands now, PSG remain in talks to sign United’s Argentine playmaker, but face a hard deadline in getting any deal done.

The issue between the two clubs for the deal is the amount of money that would exchange hands. There have been rumors that the deal could be as high as $10 million, which would obliterate United’s previous record of $3 million for Andy Najar’s move to Anderlecht back in 2013.

In addition, should Acosta be sold, FloFC can confirm that a small percentage of the fee would be sent to Boca Juniors. Acosta originally joined United on loan in 2016, but the team made the transfer from the Argentinian giants permanent at the end of the season, for a fee around $1.5 million.

If Acosta does move on, it appears that United already have a replacement on the team, having acquired Lucas Rodriguez on loan from Argentine club Estudiantes earlier in the window. Titi, as he is known, can play anywhere along the attacking line of midfielders, but with Acosta out of the picture, would likely fill in the role behind Wayne Rooney.
