Assumption soccer overtakes preseason favorite Franklin Pierce in the week one NE10 Women’s Soccer standings. Including a 1-0 win against Daemen and a 3-0 win against D’Youville, the Greyhounds started the season with two away games. The goals scored against D’Youville were scored by two freshmen, Elizabeth Schoeneberger and Quincy Thibault. This is a testament to Assumption’s new talent and promise for the season to come.

Franklin Pierce’s game against St. Thomas Aquinas ended in a 6-0 shutout by the Ravens. The powerful opener keeps Franklin Pierce at the front of the pack, right behind Assumption. Adelphi took a bit of a slide this week after an opening 1-2 loss against Wilmington University, followed by a 2-1 win against Molloy. The Panthers started No. 2 in the preseason poll and now lead the bottom half of the standings at sixth.

Another standings climber is the Pace University Setters, who started ranked ten-of-ten during the preseason but now join the top of the standings at third. Their two-win season start is only a precursor to their true prowess, which will be showcased in their next two home games.
