CCAA Women's Soccer 2025 Preseason Poll: Coaches Pick Cal Poly Pomona

The verdict is out. 

Cal Poly Pomona, last year’s NCAA National Champions, sits at the top of the 2025 CCAA Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll with 141 points and 9 first-place votes. Trailing behind stands Cal State East Bay (118) then Cal State LA (110), and Stanislaus State (110), who tie for third.

Despite the hefty point lead, Cal Poly Pomona shares first-place votes with Cal State LA, Stanislaus State and Cal State San Marcos, each gaining a point. 

This underscores how replicating last season still might prove a fight. The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women’s soccer game play begins Sept. 4, where fans can watch how things unfold.

Cal Poly Pomona earned its first NCAA DII National Championship title in program history last year. They entered the final game ranked No.2 and emerged champions in the match-up against Minnesota St. 

In CCAA play, over the past few years, Cal Poly Pomona rose out of the middle. After Covid, the team spent 2021 at No. 8 and 2022 at No.6 before launching to the top in 2023. 

In 2024, Cal State East Bay went 11-6-3 overall. They displayed a standout 2024 finish of an eight-game winning streak in CCAA regular season matches. The momentum might just give them an opening-season edge.
