The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women’s Soccer Players of the Week for games played during the first week of the 2023 season. Catawba swept the week’s awards as Sydney Jimmo was voted the Offensive Player of the Week and Kelly Havens was voted the Defensive Player of the Week.

Jimmo, a graduate student from Shelburne, Vt., recorded four goals and an assist as No. 20 Catawba picked up a 6-0 win at Chowan on Thursday before a 7-0 win in the home opener over King on Saturday. Jimmo recorded her third career hat trick against the Hawks, climbing into the top 10 in Catawba’s all-time scoring list.

Havens, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, scored the game-winning goal on Saturday vs. King. She was part of a defense that held Catawba’s two opponents this week scoreless while allowing just one shot on goal.
