Catawba guard DeAngelo Epps has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played during Week 10 of the 2022-2023 season, the conference announced Monday.

Epps, a junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, led the Catawba Indians to a 2-0 record last week, extending their winning streak to seven games. 

He scored 15 points and added six rebounds, two steals and a block in a 71-65 win over Wingate. 

Epps then poured in 20 points, plus nine rebounds, three steals and an assist in the Indians’ 97-85 win over Anderson. 

For the week Epps averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals.
