WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Jazmyn Stone, Charleston 

Freshman | Guard | Tacoma, Washington / Annie Wright  

Stone tallied 24.3 points per game on 52% shooting (26-50), with 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and three assists per contest, leading Charleston to a 3-0 week. 

The freshman guard scored a career-high 32 points, shooting 55% (11-20) from the field, with three rebounds, three steals and two assists in a victory over Charleston Southern to conclude an impressive week. 

The display came after back-to-back 20-point performances. 

Stone began the week with 21 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists in a 79-60 win over Radford on Wednesday. On Friday, she added 20 points on 70% shooting (7-10), with a career-best six rebounds, three steals and three assists, helping the Cougars take down Coastal Carolina 85-81. 

Stone is the first Cougar freshman since the 2004-2005 season to score at least 20 points in three games during her debut season and the first in program history to have four straight 20-point performances.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Grace O’Neill, Drexel

Freshman | Guard | West Chester, Pennsylvania / Archbishop Carroll 

O’Neill averaged 11.5 points, five rebounds and four steals per game, while shooting 55% (11-20) in a pair of contests for the Dragons. 

The freshman guard posted a career-best 14 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor, with six rebounds and a career-high five steals in a 74-61 win over Longwood on Wednesday. 

On Sunday, she added nine points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists, despite a setback against Saint Joseph’s. 

O’Neill has three or more steals in three consecutive contests and has at least two in five games this season. 

CONFERENCE NOTES

COMPETITIVE NONCONFERENCE RACE: The top three teams in the CAA standings have collected five wins through the first four weeks of the season. 

Drexel, the preseason favorite, is in first place with a 5-2 mark, including a pair of wins over NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago. 

Delaware, the defending CAA champion, and newcomer Monmouth, are half a game behind the Dragons at 5-3 thus far. 

Following the top 3 are six teams with four wins, including Charleston, Elon, North Carolina A&T, Towson and William & Mary at 4-3. 

The nine teams with at least four wins all have a record of .500 or better, while all 13 teams have picked up multiple wins this season. 

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Four CAA teams were recognized in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major top 25 poll. 

Drexel remained ranked, moving to fifth, while Delaware, Stony Brook and Towson received votes. 

At least three conference teams have been recognized in the poll during each week this season. 

NOTHING BUT NET: Drexel and Delaware were the highest-ranked conference teams in the season's first edition of the NCAA NET rankings, cracking the top 150. 

The Dragons led the way at 118, while the Blue Hens followed at 128. Hampton joined the top 200 as the conference's third-highest team at 199. 

HOME SWEET HOME: Home-court advantage has proved to be a factor in the CAA early this season, as league teams have gone 29-10 in their home gyms over the first four weeks of the year. 

Six teams are unbeaten at home, with 12 having at least one win, and eight have multiple wins on their home courts.  


TEAM NOTES

Charleston

• Charleston picked up three double-digit wins in five days, defeating Radford (79- 60) on Wednesday, Coastal Carolina (85-81) on Friday and Charleston Southern (79-48) on Sunday. 

• Jazmyn Stone averaged 24.3 points per game on 52% (26-50) shooting, highlighted by a career-high 32 points Sunday. 

Additionally, she tallied at least 20 points in all three games, becoming the first Cougar freshman since the 2004-2005 season to score at least 20 points in three games during her debut season and the first in program history to have four straight 20-point performances. 

• Jada Logan added 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game over the week. 

She scored a career-high 33 points against Coastal Carolina and recorded her first double-double this season with 12 points and 11 rebounds versus Charleston Southern. 

Logan has scored at least 10 points in all six games this season. 

• Anika McGarity averaged 12.7 points per game on 60.9% (14-23) shooting over the week. She went 8-of-14 from three-point range (57.1%) with at least two three-pointers in each contest. 

McGarity reached double figures in all three games with 13, 10 and 15 points, respectively.

Delaware 

• Delaware went 1-1 over the week, defeating Delaware State 74-52 in the Route 1 rivalry, before dropping a 66-55 decision to Duquesne. 

• Makayla Pippin averaged a double-double with 12.5 points and 10 rebounds per game to lead the Blue Hens. 

Pippin recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds in the victory for her second double-double this season, while scoring a team-high 10 points with nine rebounds in the setback. 

Pippin has reached double figures scoring in four straight games.

• Jewel Smalls added 13.5 points and six rebounds per game over the week. 

All nine of her made field goals came from behind the arc, and she has made at least three 3-pointers in three straight games. 

Smalls scored a game-high 18 points against Delaware State, before nine points and eight rebounds versus Duquesne. 

• Klarke Sconiers and Nakiyah Mays-Prince also reached double figures in the victory. 

Sconiers had 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks, marking her fifth game with at least 10 points, while Mays-Prince added 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals off the bench.  

Drexel 

• Drexel split a pair of games, earning a 74-61 win over Longwood on Wednesday, before a setback against Philly rival Saint Joseph's (69-49) on Sunday. 

• Keishana Washington led the way with 26.5 points and five assists per game. 

She had a game-high 28 points Sunday, after 25 points and six assists in the victory. 

Washington has scored over 20 points in five games this season and reached double figures in 41 straight. 

Following her performance last week, she moved into fourth place on Drexel's all-time scoring list.

• Grace O'Neill contributed 11.5 points, five rebounds and four steals per game for the Dragons. 

She recorded a season-best 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting with six rebounds, a season-high five steals and three assists in the victory. O'Neill added nine points, four rebounds and three steals Sunday. 

• In the victory, Hetta Saatman went 5-of-7 from the floor, contributing 10 points for her third double-figure performance this season. Additionally, Saatman tallied a career-high five blocks and added six rebounds for the Dragons. 

Elon

• Elon dropped a 64-56 decision to Howard on Friday. The Phoenix committed a season-high 29 turnovers in the contest, which led to 28 Howard points. 

• Raven Preston tallied 16 points for her third straight double-figure scoring output. Preston went 7-of-14 from the field, while recording a team-high three steals and grabbing three rebounds. 

• Lenaejha Evans also scored 16 points for the Phoenix, while adding two rebounds and one steal. 

Evans shot 7-of-15 from the field for her 16 points, which marks her fifth consecutive game with at least 10 points. 

• Ajia James was the third Phoenix player in double figures with 10 points. 

James did her damage on 66.7% shooting (4-6), including 2-of-3 from behind the 3-point line. 

Additionally, James grabbed a season-high six rebounds in the effort.  

Hampton 

• Hampton fell in the Battle of the Bay to Norfolk State 65-56 on Thursday night. The first quarter was the difference, as the Spartans jumped out to a 17-8 lead, which proved to be the final margin of victory.

• Madison Buford paced Hampton with a season-high 17 points off the bench. Buford also set season-best marks with seven rebounds and three assists while adding one steal. Buford played a season-high 33 minutes in the effort. 

• Nylah Young recorded her first double-double this season with 12 points and 11 rebounds against Norfolk State. Seven of her boards came on the offensive glass, and she added two steals. 

It marks Young's third game with at least 10 points this season. 

• Jermany Mapp rounded out the Lady Pirates in double figures with 10 points. Mapp now has three double-digit scoring efforts this year. 

Hofstra 

• Hofstra went 1-1 over the week, bouncing back with a 74-71 win over Long Island rival LIU on Saturday, after falling to Iona (62-46) on Wednesday. 

• Brandy Thomas averaged 17.5 points and 11 rebounds per game to lead the Pride. 

Thomas recorded her third double-double this season with 19 points and 14 rebounds in the victory. She also had team-highs with 16 points and eight rebounds against Iona. 

• Zyheima Swint scored a career-high 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting and matched a season-best with nine rebounds in the Hofstra victory. 

On Wednesday, she added eight points and seven rebounds to average 13.5 points and eight rebounds per game for the week. 

• Freshman Emma Von Essen tallied a season-high 17 points against LIU, marking her first career performance in double figures scoring. 

On Wednesday, Von Essen recorded season-highs in assists (four) and steals (four). 

Monmouth 

• Monmouth won its second straight game with a 57-44 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn. The 44 points are the fewest allowed by the Hawks this season, who improved to 3-0 at home on the year. 

• Jen Louro came off the bench to score a game-high 12 points, doing her damage in 14 minutes. It also marks a season-high for the graduate student, who went 4-of-6 from behind the arc.

• Ariana Vanderhoop pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds in the victory. It marks her fifth career game with at least 10 rebounds and her first this season. Additionally, Vanderhoop added six points and two assists.

• Belle Kranbuhl had three blocks for the Hawks. She now has at least three blocks in four straight games and has a team-best 17 blocks on the season. Kranbuhl added eight rebounds and four points in the effort. 

North Carolina A&T

• North Carolina A&T dropped a hard-fought contest to Cincinnati 78-73 on Thursday night. The Aggies led as late as 4:58 in the fourth quarter, but a late 8-0 for the Bearcats downed North Carolina A&T.

• Jordyn Dorsey paced North Carolina A&T with a career-high 21 points. It is her third double-figure performance this season and her first 20-plus scoring output in her career. Additionally, Dorsey tallied three steals, three rebounds and two assists. 

• Jazmin Harris added a season-high 19 points on 8-of-13 (61.5%) shooting from the floor. 

Harris has scored at least 15 points in five games this season for the Aggies. 

• Maleia Bracone scored in double figures for the seventh straight game to begin the season. Bracone added 11 points, a team-high four assists, two rebounds and one steal in the effort. 

UNCW

• UNCW went 1-1 over the week, earning a 79-61 win over Winthrop on Thursday, before falling on the road against ACC for Virginia (78-36) on Sunday. The victory snapped a two-game skid for the Seahawks. 

• Carrie Gross paced UNCW with 15 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per contest throughout the week. 

Gross poured in a career-high 22 points with six rebounds, a career-high five steals and four assists against Winthrop. It marks her second game with at least 20 points and her fifth in double figures this season. 

• On Thursday, Micah Hoggatt recorded a season-high 17 points on 80% (8-10) shooting from the floor, while adding six rebounds, three assists and one steal. 

She contributed eight points, three rebounds, a career-best two blocks and two steals on Sunday. 

• Lexi Jackson contributed nine points, six rebounds and three blocks per game for the Seahawks. 

She set a career-high with 14 points against Winthrop, while recording six rebounds and three blocks in each game last week. 

Jackson now has three games with at least three blocks this season. 

Northeastern

• Northeastern went 1-1 over the week, defeating Merrimack 75-47 before a hard-fought 60-55 setback against Holy Cross. The victory snapped a three-game skid for the Huskies. 

• Gemima Motema led the Huskies with 16 points against Merrimack, adding five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. 

On Saturday, she contributed 12 points and seven rebounds. 

Motema has reached double figures scoring in eight of nine games this season. 

• Derin Erdogan contributed 13 points and 5.5 assists per game throughout the week. 

Erdogan tallied 13 points in each contest, with a team-high five assists against Merrimack and career-high six assists versus Holy Cross. 

• Camille Clement, Halle Idowu and Ariana Webb established new career highs this week. Clement had 10 points in the victory, while Webb tallied 11 on Saturday. 

Additionally, Idowu grabbed 12 rebounds in the effort against Holy Cross.

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook dropped back-to-back games on the road, falling to Penn 73-53 on Thursday and Bucknell 64-56 on Saturday. 

• Nairimar Vargas-Reyes led the way for Stony Brook, averaging 14 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. 

She reset her career-high for the second straight game with 19 points against Penn, adding seven rebounds. 

On Saturday, Vargas-Reyes pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds and scored nine points. 

• Sherese Pittman added 11 points and six rebounds per game for the Seawolves. 

She nearly finished with a double-double against Penn, scoring 13 points and grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. 

Pittman tallied a career-high five assists against Bucknell with nine points and three rebounds. 

• Annie Warren had a team-high 20 points against Bucknell, adding four rebounds and three steals in the effort. It is Warren's third 20-point performance this season and fourth in double figures. 

Towson 

• Towson dropped its first game at SECU Arena this season, falling to Morgan State (76-48) on Wednesday night. The Bears shot 50% from the floor, outscoring the Tigers in all four quarters.

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas paced Towson with 14 points and has reached double figures in all seven games this season. Kornegay-Lucas added two rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist in the effort. 

• Anissa Rivera grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and contributed seven points. 

Rivera has at least seven points and four rebounds in every game this season.  

• Skye Williams added eight points, shooting 3-of-6 from the floor. 

Williams has scored at least eight points in four straight games and is averaging 11.5 points per game during that stretch.  

William & Mary

• William & Mary split a pair of games over the week, falling to commonwealth rival Richmond 74-62, before topping Coppin State 84-81 in overtime. 

• Sydney Wagner led William & Mary, averaging 23 points and four assists per game, while shooting 53.5% (8-15) from 3-point range. 

She scored a season-high 26 points on Thursday, before a team-best 20 points and season-high five assists in the victory. 

Wagner has reached double figures scoring in all seven games this season, including back-to-back 20-point outings. 

• Riley Casey reached double figures in both contests and averaged 16 points per game for the week. Casey recorded 19 points and four rebounds versus Coppin State, after 13 points and a season-high five assists against Richmond. 

She has at least 10 points in four straight games and six this season.  

• Bre Bellamy tallied 10 points and a season-high 11 rebounds in the victory for her first double-double this season. She averaged seven points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the week. 

She has grabbed at least eight rebounds in three straight games, with a pair of double-digit rebounding efforts.
